I originally used a cheap USB-C to DP adapter, and then tried to solve the issue by going to a CalDigit TS3Plus with a DP port built in, and the DP Cable that came from Dell with the Monitor.
#Black macbook memory upgrade update
I started using this monitor on a 2015 MacBook Pro using a mini-dp to DP Amazon Basics cable, and all worked fine But, when I upgraded to my 2020 M1 Mac mini (running the latest update Big Sur 11.3.1) the monitor started blinking. It's long post but hope to add more info to the issue, and maybe help others who are struggling with this.

I've been struggling with the same issue, with a Dell S3221QS 4K going through its display port. TLDR On the monitor try turning off auto input, and force it take input from a specific port. I got help from the clerk in the IT shop, they should be able to help you choose. HDMI, USB-C and Thunderbolt has different bandwidth. As I understood it's dependent on the technology. This is not the fault of the monitor, but of the poor quality cable.Try it and if you can, report back if a good cable solved the problem for you.Good luck! :)Īlso, you need to consider the data transfer rate (bandwidth) a cable can handle. And this causes the monitor's image to "fall apart" or occasionally make a "popping" sound and go black. problem solved. If the cable is not properly insulated, the electric field caused by magnetic induction will penetrate the cable and cause interference in the signal (if I understood well). They gave me a cheap crap cable for the monitor.I bought a well insulated HDMI cable and voila. The problem was that the HDMI cable was not properly insulated. I've just forgot to come back here and update this thread. Hey! Don't worry as it should be an easy fix. I only have usb UP and USB ports on my monitor (nit sure it's 3.0 or 2.0).ĭid anyone experience this problem? What do you suggest? The manufacturer had included a hdmi-hdmi cable but no usb-c. No signal from the computer.I do have USB ports on the monitor but I do no not have a cable. I bought a DisplayPort - HDMI cable, but the monitor doesn't even turns on. I did read that most of you use different cables. If I restart the machine it's better for a time. It's just turns off / the screen goes black randomly (blinking) for 1sec. Hey! I have the new MacMini M1 (Big Sur 11.3) and I'm using a 27" 4K monitor ( Philips 278M1) with a HDMI - HDMI cable.
